It’s been a long time coming, but I am currently finishing up the script to my first video review. You can even say that it’s been sixteen years in the making. Back when I was doing my 365//365 project in 2010 with Chocolate Lemon, I had (poorly) attempted to make a kind of “Let’s Play/review” of Road Runner’s Death Valley Rally on the Super Nintendo. It fell apart early on, as I literally went into that blind; I barely had a functional capture device, but the programs used (which I can’t even remember) and the general know-how of creating a video project just didn’t exist.

Now I’m not here to say that even sixteen years later I am the greatest to ever video edit, but I have learned quite a bit over the last year and change, to the point where I could create something functional, proper, and maybe even well edited overall. I have done a number of Retrospective Trailers, where I created a trailer for a retrospective coming soon, but had no intention of ever delivering. These really helped form the admittedly basic enough skills to try a long form video, something I’ve been wanting to pull off for ages.

The current status of the project is more or less this:

• a trailer promoting this has been completed (posting down below)
• the ending of the actual video has been completed
• the portion before where the trailer takes place (the beginning) just needs voice over work
• the scripting is finishing, which will then need a voice over

Once the scripting is done, I’ll begin the actual bulk of the video, getting the right footage for the right places, etc. I also have to source some material from some Final Fantasy Brave Exvius videos and such.

I was hoping to have this all completed before The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake releases, but I’m 100% sure that won’t be the case. Which means the final completion date is up in the air. I’m going to chip away and ultimately try to have it done before Grand Theft Auto VI releases, since that’s basically the end of the world as we know it. Since this is a long form video, and I am very anal about how I want to present everything in this review, from quality, to pacing and everything, it really may take longer than I’d like, but dammit, I’m going to get it done.

It’s been a ton of fun so far as well. The trailer coming up here, I managed to fart out in just about four hours during a late night this week, and although I am supremely picky, I managed to release those inhibitions to get it done, and it still came out how I liked, and it didn’t feel at all like I sacrificed quality. I mean, it is a minute and change long anyway!
