A trailer for the FPS Homefront, on XB360, PS3 and Steam
Sure, I may not have been spending the time away writing in a traditional sense, but I’ve been working on writing more in a scripting kind of manner. Over the last year, I’ve been focusing more heavily on video editing, and trying to get to a place where I am beginning to produce legitimate video content. I had dabbled with video editing during the PSX Mania and Dreamcast Mania days, but the effort was so base level and gave no real sense of development towards something bigger. I had planted the seeds a couple of years ago with my plans for a video series chronicling Squaresoft’s catalog on PS1 games, called PlayStation X Squaresoft. Those plans didn’t pan out though, as the gameplay was going to be streamed on Twitch, and I learned by that time that I can’t ever stream consistently, with or without a schedule.
Fast forward to the beginning of 2026, and I had been getting this itch for really pushing forward in teaching myself video editing/production and all of that. I’ve had ideas to make trailers for certain games, promoting a retrospective of some sort at the end of the trailer, but never actually producing said retrospective. These were all just vehicles to drive me forward towards more shinier vehicles, until I felt like I reached to the destination that I’ve wanted to be dropped off at. Right now I have arrived at what I’d like my first “long form” video to be, and not to spoil the intended end result, I’ve got a demo of the game I’ve been picking at for weeks, to such a degree that I am restarting it to get initial footage to go with the final product that releases in the second half of October. This also means that I need to get additional footage from related games to go with it, which thankfully a couple of the games I have several hours or more into the game, so it won’t look like I’m solely using footage from the very beginning.
But that’s a story for another time. Today, I want to begin sharing the retrospective trailers that I’ve produced over the last several months, four in total.
Today’s trailer is for Kaos Studios’ first person shooter Homefront. This was actually not the first trailer I created, but the second. The first I made I decided to put after this one. Each of these trailers hold a lot of meaning to me, and as elementary as they come off as (even if I tried to edit it all in a specified set piece and exciting manner). While I do have a favorite from the four I’ve produced thus far, I still view each of these as special to me. The trailer illustrates a number of storyline points, dramatic moments, gameplay and so on. As little footage as I got from a full playthrough (5-6 hours tops maybe?), I managed to get every beat I was searching for, and make a neat trailer for a forgotten title.
I know I’ve mentioned this at some point as well, but Homefront also has a special meaning to me overall. Before its released I was chosen to be a User Stability Tester for the game in their Lower East Side/Midtown offices. Over a half dozen visits testing out specific portions of the single player game. It was an experience I took seriously, and still have fond memories of over the years. The trailer kind of feels like a full circle moment of sorts, and I think that’s why the making of and final product of this trailer, holds as much meaning to me as well.
Down below is the video in question, and over the next several weeks I’ll make separate articles about each of the trailers I made (or you can go to my YouTube channel and see them for yourselves early, and LiKe & SuBsCrIbE). Hope you all enjoy this Homefront trailer!
